Peter Rabbit Jumping Stations

Rock, Paper, Scissors Pike

You will need: gymnastic mats, Rock, Paper, Scissors, Pike Flashcards (printable)

  • Place mats around the playing area and sit 2-4 students per mat.
  • Revise tuck, straight, straddle and pike positions with students using gymnastic basic shape flashcards.
  • Choose one of the 4 shapes (see below) from the attached shape cards and hold it close to their chest.
  • Call out “rock-paper-scissors - pike” 5,4,3,2,1 - giving students 5 seconds to get into position and then show your card:
  1. Tuck sit = rock
  2. Lying down pencil (straight) = paper
  3. Straddle sit = scissors
  4. Pike position = pike
  • If a student matches the teacher, they complete an exercise challenge such as ten jumping jacks before returning to the game.

Shark Hunt

You will need: Cones, Hula Hoop

  • Create two safe zones at either end of the playing area. Spread hula hoop islands throughout the middle of the PE space - the ocean.
  • Select one or two students to be the shark - the taggers for the game.
  • The remaining students aim to jump and land from island to island (hula hoops) making their way across the ocean.
  • Sharks can only tag students that land in the ocean and not on an island. If tagged, students return to the beginning and restart their journey again.
