Assessment 1a - The Movement Ninja

Musical Spots

You will need: cones or spot markers, speaker & music

  • Create a circle of spaced out cones, - one less then the number of students in your class e.g. 30 students = 29 cones.
  • Ask Students to stand behind the cone with 2 students sharing a cone to begin.
  • When the music begins students travel around the outside of the cones, in the same direction, using a movement of the teachers choice e.g. hopping, skipping etc.
  • When the music stops students move to the nearest cone as quickly as possible - students that reach a cone at the same time play rock, paper ,scissors to see who gets the cone.
  • The student that does not have a cone must perform an exercise of the teachers choosing before returning to the circle. Repeat until all students are warm.

The Movement Ninja Challenge

You will need: attached movement ninja challenge sheet.

  • Inform the class that you received a new movement ninja challenge sheet in the post this morning!
  • Read The Movement Ninja Challenge Sheet.
  • The Skipping Ninja has left the class 'challenges' to complete and questions to answer.
  • Complete his challenges and earn the chance to attempt his Fundamental Movement Skills skipping games.

Letters

You will need: letter cards (printable)

  • Divide students into pairs.
  • Using the letter cards call out and show a letter for students to create with their bodies.
  • Students lie on the floor and make the letter shape.
  • Encourage pairs to use different parts of their body and to be creative.
