Lesson 2 - Rolling Challenges

What Can you Do?

You will need: balls of all sizes & shapes, beanbags, quoits, hula hoops

  • Layout equipment, such as balls, beanbags, hula hoops or quoits from the PE shed that can roll, throw or catch safely.
  • Students imagine they are children that have just found Santa's workshop full of his rolling, throwing and catching toys.
  • Students choose a ball, beanbag, hula hoop or quoit and discover how it can bounce, roll or be thrown up in the air.
  • Emphasis safety - students throwing items may do so only if there is no danger of hurting anyone.

For this part of the lesson, spend 5 minutes teaching and practicing the 'Star Movement of the Day'. Use the poster below or printable attached to directly teach your students the correct technique. Provide students time to practice the correct technique using the activity provided on the poster.
