  • Challenge students to 'pop' (jump) around the playing area to cook the popcorn.
  • Can you "pop" from:
  1. Two feet to two feet
  2. Two feet to one foot
  3. One foot to one foot (Jump and land on same foot)
  4. One foot to one foot (Jump and land on opposite foot)

  6. Star jump - jump, make star shape in air and land
  7. Tuck jump - jump bringing knees up high to belly and land

For this part of the lesson, spend 5 minutes teaching and practicing the 'Star Movement of the Day'. Use the poster below or printable attached to directly teach your students the correct technique. Provide students time to practice the correct technique using the activity provided on the poster.

Beanbag Buggle

You will need: beanbags

  • Spread beanbags around the playing area.
  • Ask students to jog around the playing area avoiding touching the beanbags.
  • When the teacher blows the whistle students must jog to a beanbag and perform an action called out by the teacher e.g. touch your elbow off the beanbag or sit down for 1 second on the beanbag. The teacher can be as creative as necessary for their class.
  • After each action students continue jogging around the playing area until the whistle is blown again and the teacher calls out a new action to perform at the closest beanbag to them.

Sleeping Puppies

You will need: no equipment

  • Students find their own space in the playing area and pretend they tired puppies after a long day playing with their dog friends!
  • Puppies lie down on the floor, relax and fall asleep.
  • The teacher walks around the space and quietly taps a puppy on the shoulder. That student quietly gets up and taps someone else on the shoulder and line ups at the door ready to go back to class.
  • This continues with each student woken with a tap waking another before lining up.
